Sony cutting corners again Rating:2 out of 5 stars The functions on the remote are fine, but that’s not rocket science anymore.
The overall manufacturing quality of this unit is on the low end, not what you would expect from Sony, though this seems to be a trend with Sony products in the past few years. It lacks any visual indicator that the remote if functioning (like a small light indicating that a button has been pressed). So, you may find yourself troubleshooting whether it is syncing to the unit correctly, is low on batteries, or has some other problem.
In my case, it’s been a series of “has some other problem”. In the past, reseating the battery has made it work sometimes. But now it’s failing to work altogether, leaving me to use a PS3 controller to control blu-ray discs (which is annoying).
I can’t say if it’s a pattern with these units, however, as I’ve only tried one.

Good to have if you play video on your PS3 Rating:4 out of 5 stars The Blu-ray remote is not entirely necessary to play and watch video discs on the PS3; however, if one intends to watch a lot of movies or other video on disc, they will probably wish to have this on hand to get the most out of your viewing experience. Bluetooth connectivity on this remote is a joy as having direct “line-of-sight” to the console is a thing of the past.
FYI, you can use the remote to control game features when a game disc is loaded, but obviously it cannot substitute for a game controller.

Works as advertised Rating:4 out of 5 stars More responsive than USB based product I used previously. Also has much more functionality. I wish you could power off the PS3 from the remote.
